FACTORY TOUR - Starting with a solid foundation
  • Our frames are built using American-made steel I-beams, which are stronger than corrugated steel.
  • Steel cross members and outriggers are installed 8’ on center.
  • Continuous “arc” welding is used to connect steel components.
  • The entire frame is undercoated to resist corrosion.
  • Every frame is designed and engineered specifically for each different floor plan.
  • Camber is engineered into each frame, allowing the home to be transported safely.
  • The fresh water plumbing system, made of TuffPex tubing is installed. TuffPex stand up to freezing better than any other tubing. Rated at - 95 degrees below zero, TuffPex actually gets stronger as the temperature gets colder.
  • Testing has proven TuffPex to be completely non-toxic, having no chemical residues. TuffPex eliminates the fear of chemical contaminants being released by some plastics, as well as the ions found in copper, lead, and other metals. The TuffPex System is also free of glues and solvents which are present in a CPVC system.
FACTORY TOUR - Our floors are built for years of living.
  • 2 x 6 floor joists are placed perpendicular to the I-beams at least 16” on center add strength.
  • OSB or Plywood decking is used and the entire floor is secured to the heavy duty frame using large lag screws.
  • Reinforced bottom boards form a moisture and air infiltration barrier.
Insulation under the floor and around water lines and ductwork forms an energy efficient blanket.
  • Kitchen and bathroom floors are waterproofed for protection. Any hole made in the floor that is required for plumbing has extra sealant.
  • Where plywood is used in a transverse floor system, the 4' x8' plywood sheets are staggered - preventing a continuous seem - which adds more strength to the floor.
  • A no-wax vinyl one piece floor covering is installed in the kitchen and utility room.

FACTORY TOUR - With walls and ceilings built for strength.

  • Exterior studs are placed 16” on center and secured with fasteners and steel metal straps for added strength.
  • 1/2" Gypsum drywall reduces sound by as much as 50% over paneling and is fire resistant. It also gives Champion homes the look of permanence.
  • Multi-section homes are built to match as a single unit so when they leave the factory, they’ll fit exactly.
  • The trusses that make up the roof system are foam-sealed to the back of the gypsum drywall to create a permanent bond.
  • The roof system is constructed to withstand more than 175% of the maximum load requirements set by HUD code.
  • Ceiling seams are taped and mud is then applied.
  • The ceiling is sprayed with an acoustic substance that not only provides an elegant look, but also acts as a vapor barrier.
  • Composition shingled roofs are standard on our multi-section homes and on all single-section homes.
  • After the insulation is blown into the attic cavity, OSB is used as decking on multi-section homes. The OSB is staggered to provide extra strength.
  • An underlayment is applied prior to the application of the 20 year fiberglass shingles.
FACTORY TOUR - We insulate for comfort and savings.
  • Engineers have designed the heating and cooling duct systems specifically for your home configuration and climate zone.
  • Heating and cooling systems are the latest technology from the top names in the industry.
  • Fiberglass insulation from Owens-Corning is used in the floor and exterior walls. The 2" x 4" exterior walls are insulated to a minimum of R-11*. Using optional 2" x 6" framed outer walls, insulation values can go as high as R-19*.
  • A combination of interior gypsum wall board and wall insulation will prevent any air infiltration or drafts from occurring.
  • All the fiberglass wall insulation is firmly secured between the studs to prevent the insulation from dropping or sagging.
  • Cellulose ceiling insulation is blown into the attic cavity for a blanket coverage.
      • Loose fil cellulose coverage…..

has an R-value* of 3.7 per inch, compared to only 2.2 for fiberglass insulation & will maintain an R-value* in temperatures as low as –40 degrees F.
        has a Class “A” non-combustible fire rating.

was the only blown insulation to have less than 3% settling after transport, while rockwool settled as much as 16%.
reduces air infiltration up to 40% more effectively than conventional insulation.
  • With the types of insulation used by Champion Home Builders Texas, every homeowner can enjoy the long-range benefits of lowered heating and cooling expenses, reduced sound transfer and air infiltration.
  • Structural components are weather-sealed using weather stripping at every attachment point. This weather stripping is not brittle like putty tape, and will maintain its original elastic properties for a lifetime.
  • Vapor-barrier wall insulation, blown-in roof insulation and insulated exterior doors provide effective barriers to air infiltration and heat loss.

*R-value means the resistance of heat transfer. The higher the R-value, the greater the insulating power.

FACTORY TOUR - Wired with you in mind.
  • Wire protector plates are used to prevent any nail or screw from penetrating the electrical wiring. This will allow the homeowner to safely attach something to the exterior of the home without the fear of being electrocuted.
  • Every home built has copper wiring, which is much safer than aluminum wiring.
  • Special Ground Fault Interrupters (GFI) can be found in all baths, the kitchen and on the home’s exterior. These receptacles are special because they trip the breaker in 1/200 of a second. This is beneficial to ensure instant and superior safety during any accident. Accidents that occur in these areas include dropping a hairdryer or blender/handmixer in a sink of water.
  • Each home, whether it is gas or electric, will contain a 200 amp panel box. This will safely handle the electrical load of home while allowing extra space for additional breakers.

FACTORY TOUR - And inspected for every detail.
  • Every home is inspected by Champion’s trained professional inspectors. Homes comply with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) national building codes. In most cases, Champion’s quality standards exceed HUD code requirements.
  • Before the home can be moved from one area to the next, the foreman and inspector for each area must inspect and approve the home.
  • All plumbing lines are pressure tested for strength and integrity.
  • A 1080-volt di-electric test is conducted on all electrical systems to check for shorts.
  • In addition to the other tests, inspectors also check the operation of things such as windows and doors, appliances and ceiling fans. This added attention will assure that these systems will be operational when your home is delivered.
  • The red HUD seal attached to each home guarantees that each home meets all state and federal building codes for safety.
  • The HUD Data Plate, which is located inside the home, offers a lot of information about the specific home. It verifies that all system checks have been made, states the zoning that the home was built for and gives serial numbers to all the major components.
